About Me

I don't like talking too much about myself, but since you clicked this tab, I'll give it a whirl. I'm originally from Atlanta, GA, but I've lived here in the Austin area for over half my life now, so I guess I'm a native Texan now? Austin was a very different place when I moved here to attend UT Austin. I studied Psychology and English there and met my husband-to-be, but graduated with not a lot of direction and ended up working at some really dead end jobs. When I was pregnant with my oldest, I was laid off, and while super panic-inducing at the time, it ended up being the best thing in the world for my family and I. I was lucky enough to spend my kids' youth with them, and watch them grow in front of my eyes into the super cool kids they are today. I had had a DSLR camera but really started to use it when my daughter was born, documenting all her first moments, a lot of times pretty badly. I started getting a lot of positive feedback and encouragement from friends about my photos though as time went on, and when my youngest daughter started preschool, I decided I had room enough in my brain to try out this new endeavor. I've been photographing families for over five years now, and I can genuinely say I love what I do. I would describe my work as rich, bold, and emotive. I don't shy away from color, although I love a good black and white), or from getting in close. I want to tell your story, not someone else's. I want to create something for your family to look back on and be transported back in time. Life is messy and beautiful imperfect, and I aim to capture all of that.

Outside of photography, I love reading, being outdoors, all the patio time (bonus if it's brunch), traveling, and above all being with my family.

What to Expect From Your Session

Family photography sessions can be daunting, stressful, and exhausting. I get it. From picking out the outfits, to stressing that your kids won't behave, to bribing them to participate, to worrying you won't get that exact image you've imagined in your head. I can't promise that when you sign up with me that that will all disappear. But I can promise that if you trust in the process, throw expectations out the window, and come ready to just enjoy the company you are in in that moment, it will be the most enjoyable photography session your family has ever had.

When you're ready to book your session, it will begin the "getting to know you" process where I will begin to understand what you are looking for from your session and your family dynamic. Once booked, I will send out a styling guide and questionnaire to better understand your family and your goals for the session, and that will begin to shape how I approach your session. Beyond that, I go into your session with an idea, but very little plan as I adjust to your family's needs and personalities as we work together throughout the session. I do not like to force children to do things that they don't want to do; that to me is where the stress comes in for both parents and kids. Instead, I ask that you come ready to connect and engage with each other, rather than my camera. I will get a few traditional looking at the camera photos, but that isn't what we are primarily here for. It's always a challenge to unlearn the art of "say cheese", but that is exactly what I'll ask of you. Instead kiss, hug, cuddle, play, explore. Have fun with the people you love the most. This is where the magic happens and where we can go beyond the holiday greeting card and into keepsakes your children will cherish down the road. I will be there to prompt you gently along the way when needed.

After the session, typically within a week, you will receive a link to an online gallery with lightly edited proofs from your session. You will select your favorites and once I've received them, I will finalize your edits and return the link to you in which you can download your images and order prints or products if you so choose.

In terms of my editing style, I tend toward bold, rich, emotive colors and clean, classic, and timeless edits. I offer family, newborn lifestyle, maternity, day in the life, milestone, senior, solo portrait, branding sessions in the Austin Texas and surrounding areas. Ask about additional sessions I may offer.

While I primarily shoot family sessions, I also love branding sessions and work closely with those clients to ensure versatile and relevant content that promotes their personal brand in the best light.

I can't wait to work with you!

“My family hired Erin to take some pictures of us just before my second daughter was born. It was such a positive experience; Erin made us feel comfortable and remarkably also managed to make my toddler, who can be shy, feel comfortable in front of the camera. She captured some beautiful moments that I'm certain we will treasure for years to come. In addition, her communication was always responsive, clear, and helpful. She was very flexible with our scheduling needs amidst the pandemic, and was full of help”

More Sweet Words From My Clients

"We are a family of 10. We’re a bit overwhelming. More than a bit, really. It’s probably exhausting to be around our chaos, much less trying to photograph it! But, we had a super special family event that I knew we needed captured forever. I hired Erin for two sessions: our event, and a regular family session. Our family pictures were exactly what we were looking for! I adore them. But the photos she took of our family event? She really captured the love and laughter of our chaos. I wouldn’t hesitate to hire her again."

The way she captures my daughter's personality is second to none and I will cherish our family photos. I cannot recommend her enough!"

  • Amanda R.

"I love that Erin finds a way to beautifully capture your family in a very natural way. There were specific things that I asked for and she was able to do that AND get natural shots. I DO NOT like taking pictures and was reluctant to schedule but, she got photos of me with my family that I actually love - that never happens!"

  • Heather K.

"Working with Erin was a great experience. She was very responsive and suggested a few different venues for our family photos. We have a toddler who didn't want to cooperate at time, but Erin was very patient and able to accommodate him. The end result were some wonderful pictures we will always treasure! We will definitely work with Erin again in the future!"

"Our family photos came out beautiful! Erin is great at capturing our family's intimate moments with our little one. On top of that, she is incredibly fast at providing us our photos for review after the session. Fast turnaround time, beautiful pictures, and very responsive!"

  • Jane H.

"Erin is such a talented and caring photographer! She captured family moments with authenticity and beauty, and managed to make the photo session feel fun and relaxing, which was a pleasant surprise and much better than family photo sessions we’ve had in the past that were rushed, tense, and stressful. She connected with my kids and was creative and funny in a way that had them grinning and giggling for the pictures. And she was very easy to communicate with in planning our session, coordinating location, timing, etc. I really love how her pictures show such emotion, which elevates them beyond the typical family photos you see all over social media these days. We don’t do pictures often, but I look forward to scheduling another session with Erin in the future."

  • Karissa B.

"Erin is fantastic! She has a way for making our whole family (seniors and kids) make comfortable during the sessions. The results are our yearly family portraits, which Erin captures effortless. Highly recommend Erin for any type of portraits."

  • Sweta S.

"Erin was amazing. We had a “mini session” which was about 20 minutes and we love the photos! She was very professional while at the same time helping us feel more relaxed and comfortable. She was very informative well before and after the session so we never had to ask any questions about what was required on our part. Definitely recommend!"
